2 teens stabbed by group of men at local fair, NC sheriff’s office says

GREENVILLE, NC — Two teenagers were stabbed at the Pitt County Fairgrounds in Greenville on Saturday night, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to a statement posted on Facebook, deputies received a report of a stabbing at the fair at around 8 pm Pitt County Sheriff Paula Dance gave permission to off-duty deputies in the area to deploy to the scene of the stabbing.

Deputies found that the two teenagers, 19 and 17, were stabbed by a group of between 6 to 10 men. The two were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s office did not have an update on their condition.

While deputies were investigating the stabbings, they received reports that there were other fights and shots fired on the fairgrounds. After further investigation, deputies found those reports were false.

The sheriff’s office did not say whether or not anyone was arrested or if any charges would be filed.
