Jan. 6 Hearing Monday Focuses on Trump’s Efforts to Cast Doubt on 2020 Election

WASHINGTON — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, storming of the US Capitol kicked off its hearing Monday on the campaign by then President Donald Trump to cast doubt on the integrity of the 2020 presidential election, efforts the committee alleges triggered the attack.

“We’ll tell the story of how Donald Trump lost an election and knew he lost an election and as a result of his loss, decided to wage an attack on our democracy,” said Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D., Miss.).
