US stocks opened higher Friday, with major indices on track to extend a recent stretch of gains and snap a punishing losing streak.
The S&P 500 rose 0.8% shortly after the opening bell. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 48 points, or 0.1% and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.4%. On Thursday, stocks climbed, pushing the Dow to its fifth consecutive daily gain.
