US stocks dropped and oil prices slid Monday as Covid-19 shutdowns in China added to the uncertainty investors face in a period of rising interest rates.
The S&P 500 fell 1.2%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average retreated 0.6%, or about 220 points. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite declined 1.8%.
