Jeff Chiu / APThe biggest storm the San Francisco Bay Area has seen since early January delivered a soaking of rain overnight, and more scattered showers, even a few lightning flashes, are in the forecast Monday, the National Weather Service said.
The system is expected to push over the Central Coast Monday afternoon and rainfall totals in the Santa Lucia Mountains along the Big Sur coast could reach up to 2 to 4 inches. The weather service has a flash flood watch in effect for the Colorado and Dolan wildfire burn scars through 8 pm Monday.
The heaviest rain the Bay Area is expected to see with this system fell overnight and generally brought 0.25 to 1 inch of rain. Here are some rainfall totals for the past 24 hours:
Scotts Valley: 1.46 inches
Mount Tamalpais: 1.2 inches
Santa Rosa: 0.71 inches
Oakland Zoo: 0.55 inches
Pacifica: 0.53 inches
Walnut Creek: 0.45 inches
Concord: 0.31 inch
Oakland Museum: 0.26 inches
Downtown San Francisco: 0.18 inches
Suisun City: 0.15 inch
San Jose International Airport: 0.13 inch
The last time the San Francisco Bay Area saw significant widespread rain was at the start of the year. On Jan. 3, Santa Rosa recorded 0.45 inches of rain and San Francisco 0.34 inches.
Conditions are expected to dry up Tuesday and no rain is in the forecast through Sunday.
