Cincinnati woman accused of physically assaulting 1-year-old at day care

A Cincinnati woman has been arrested after allegedly grabbing the hair of a 1-year-old and causing physical harm at a day care facility.Court documents say 27-year-old Kristian Hemmitt was arrested over the weekend and has been charged on numerous counts after being seen assaulting a toddler on video at the facility on March 3.The daycare worker is accused of assaulting a one-year-old child by grabbing the child by the hair and dragging them.According to police records, the incident happened at DC Small Kids Adventures, on Glenway Avenue.Authorities say Hemmitt grabbed the 1-year-old by the hair and forced the child’s head down to the ground, while “forcibly” removing hair from the child’s scalp.Officials say Hemmitt then picked the toddler up by the hair, prevented the child’s feet from touching the ground and further proceeded to cause damage to the head and scalp. Documents say the toddler sustained multiple injuries to the scalp and required emergency medical treatment.Hemmitt is facing charges of felonious assault, endangering children (two counts) and tampering with evidence (two counts) .The mother of the child involved said she thinks the day care had no knowledge of the behavior. She said the day care has done everything right and had they known this behavior was happening, they would have taken action to prevent it.
