Durham city councilmember reports shots fired at Walmart in Raleigh :: WRAL.com

– Shots were fired on Saturday near the Brier Creek Walmart, according to Durham City councilor Mark-Anthony Middleton.

Middleton made the following Facebook post at 5:31 pm Saturday: “Shots fired here at the Brier Creek Walmart. We are not being allowed to leave. Store is locked down. Shooter still believed to be outside of store. Please avoid the area. ”

The Raleigh Police Department said no suspect is in custody. The department plans to send a news release on Saturday night with more information.

Raleigh police continue to investigate. Police have blocked off the area near the Walmart store located at 10050 Glenwood Ave.

Middleton made a follow-up Facebook post at 5:48 pm Saturday:

“Update: Raleigh PD now sweeping store with long barreled weapons. We are all being directed out and store is officially closed for the rest of the day. Fire and medical are all over the place. Extremely scary but I’m fine. However there are reports (this is preliminary and unverified) that at least one person has been injured. Aside from any physical injuries we are certainly concerned about innocent people (particularly childrem) who have been utterly traumatized by this. Thank you all for checking and your concern “I’m good!”
