Burnsville High School lockdown in place after weapon report, police say no injuries

Burnsville High School is currently locked down while police search the building after receiving a report of a weapon in the school.

According to a letter sent to families, the school was locked down at 11:30 am

District officials said students and staff are safe. As of this time, the search has not revealed a weapon, but police are continuing to search as of 1:15 pm

A district spokesperson said a weapon has not been confirmed to be in the school, only reported. The same spokesperson said there has not been any reports of gunfire.

Burnsville police said there have been no reports of injuries.

The letter also asked parents not to go to school since they will not be able to access the building, and police need to be able to clear the scene.

District officials say they will share information with families later about how and when students will be released from the school.
