Anonymous hacks Russian state TV with footage of Ukraine war

The online group Anonymous claims it has hacked Russian state TV and streaming services to air footage highlighting the horrors of the war on Ukraine.

The secretive vigilante cyber group late Sunday shared footage of channels that are forced to air pro-Kremlin footage instead showing shocking scenes of missile attacks that killed innocent civilians.

A message also told Russians, “This war was waged by Putin’s criminal, authoritarian regime on behalf of ordinary Russian citizens.”

“Russians, oppose the genocide in Ukraine!” it says, according to a translation by Ukrainian national news service Ukrinform.

The operation came after Russia’s parliament passed a law Friday that threatens up to 15 years’ imprisonment for journalists who question the Kremlin’s official stance on what it calls its “special military operation” against fictitious threats.

In an update, Anonymous TV said“All Russian-state TV channels have been hacked.”

Hackers also reportedly jammed Russian airwaves with audio of the Ukrainian national anthem – and broadcast “troll faces on Russian military radio. ”

It was part of “the biggest Anonymous on ever seen, ” the shady group said.

“We only want peace, not war,” Anonymous said, adding the feared false-flag campaigns to make it look like it was a “threat.”

“Remember us when various powers turn their attention towards us, because it will happen. We can change the world for the better. That has always been the idea. Ideas are bulletproof. Signed, #Anonymous, ”the group said.
