Where to find the best magic-based melee weapon in Elden Ring.
The Sword of Night and Flame is the best magic-based melee weapon in Elden Ring.
You do not have to be a caster to use magic, as some of the best melee weapons in Elden Ring are also magic-based, which require you to invest in Intelligence or Faith points.
The Sword of Night and Flame is the best of both, as its name suggests, able to inflict both magic and fire damage.
It does, however, require an equally significant amount of Intelligence and Faith, although you should at least have enough Strength and Dexterity from your starting class.

Elden Ring Sword of Night and Flame location
To get your hands on Sword of Night and Flame in Elden Ring, you’ll need to go to Caria Manor in northwest of Liurnia, which is also on your way to beginning Ranni’s questline.
The room is locked from the other side, so this is how you reach it.
From the Manor Lower Level Site of Grace, walk out of the door and you’ll be on ramparts above the manor. Follow the ramparts then take your first left and follow this path along until you reach what seems like a dead end.
If you look to your left, however, you’ll see the rooftops of buildings below. Drop down to one and then to the next, which will have an opening with a ladder. Take the ladder down and you’ll be in a room with a chest.
Open it to retrieve the Sword of Night and Flame before unlocking the door to leave.
Once you have settled on a starting class and starting Keepsake item, you should first work out how to level up, how to respec, how to unlock the horse, Ashes of War, crafting and multiplayer. Need some direction from there? Try finding map fragments, flask upgrades, the best weapons and a staff location. If you want to improve your prowess, then we recommend rune farming, finding smithing stone locations and Stonesword Keys – especially against the likes of Magrit, Godrick the Grafted, the Tree Sentinel, Leonine Misbegotten, Royal Knight Loretta, Starscourge Radahn (required as part of the Ranni quest, Red Wolf of Radagon and Renalla Queen of the Full Moon after you have found the Glintstone Key location.
The sword requires 12 Strength, 12 Dexterity, 24 Intelligent and 24 Faith to wield, so we hope you’ve not been neglecting on leveling up the latter two stats.
While its physical damage should serve you well, its real power lies in its unique skills, which gives you the option to either swing a wide arc projectile of flames or cast Night Comet sorcery, basically a devastating laser-focused blast on anything in front of you.
Good luck finding the Sword of Night and Flame!
